Zum Face Charcoal Sugar Facial Scrub

I love exfoliating.  Exfoliation is a key element of any effective skincare regimen. This is how you remove the dead skin cells off your body so that your healthy skin can receive the nutrients it needs to replenish and heal. It can also then adequately and efficiently absorb any new healing ingredients you put onto it, so your skin can look and feel radiant, smooth and healthy!

Imagine trying to water a garden that had a pile of dead leaves covering it. You would end up with a pile of soggy dead leaves and a garden bed that is still dry as a bone, right?! Likewise, you NEED to remove the dead skin cells from your body first, before you do anything else.

There are many different ways to exfoliate. One can use a chemical exfoliator, such as Glycolic Acid, or one can use a physical exfoliator that actually (gently) scrapes the skin, such as chia seeds, cranberry seeds, sugar etc.

The Zum (rhymes with mum, come, from, and bum) Face Charcoal Sugar Facial Scrub uses the power of activated charcoal to draw bacteria, poisons, chemicals, dirt and other micro-particles to the surface of skin, helping you achieve a flawless complexion and to fight blackheads and acne. Believe it or not, charcoal is not metabolized, adsorbed or absorbed by the body, but it can be used to treat some poisonous bites and disinfect some wounds. Activated charcoal powder is proven to absorb thousands of times its own mass in harmful substances, which makes it a popular ingredient in facial masks.*

I give Zum Face Charcoal Sugar Facial Scrub extra love for being cruelty free (never testing on animals), gluten-free, and vegan.  It does not have any artificial colors, flavors, fragrances, or junk.  To use it, use a small amount to gently massage your damp face, neck (front, back & sides of your neck – I’m not sure why people forget this part. It gets on my nerves when people apply facial product just to their face and stop at the chin.  What’s the point of having a youthful appearing face if your neck and décolleté are going to expose your real age and signs of aging???), and décolleté in a circular motion.  After about 30 – 60 seconds, rinse it off.

Real talk: I have combination skin.  My nose and chin area tend to get congested with blackheads and large pores.  When I use Face Charcoal Sugar Facial Scrub on a nightly basis, I notice that my pores actually look smaller and clearer.  The scrub has a light aroma of charcoal, but it is a pleasant scent.  I love using it in the shower and letting it sit on my skin almost like a mask after I massage it on, then rinse if off just before I get out of the shower.  It did not irritate my skin at all.  It left my face feeling smooth, hydrated, and clear!  I didn’t even have to use one of those pore-clearing strips I usually need to get the grime out of my pores! I used this consistently for a month before writing this review.

I highly recommend this. You can get yours here.
