Why you should choose Fragrance Free for Your home

***Reblogged from GrabGreenHome***

The National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health has found that one-third of the substances used in the fragrance industry are toxic. Man-made fragrances added to many cleaners, most notably laundry detergents and fabric softeners, may cause acute effects such as respiratory irritation, headache, sneezing, and watery eyes in sensitive individuals or allergy and asthma sufferers. No one wants those side-effects!

To avoid these symptoms look for products that are fragrance free and we should mention that not all fragrance free products are created equally. First let’s define “fragrance free” and “unscented”

Fragrance Free means that no fragrances were added to change the product’s naturally occurring scent.

Unscented products may contain a fragrance, not to create a scent, but to mask a stronger odor inherent in the product.

If you’re looking for products that have no scent AND no fragrance, check out Grab Green. Their fragrance free formula is hypoallergenic and free of dyes, phosphates, chlorine and masking agents.

“Our fragrance free products are a perfect match for those with sensitive skin and allergies, respiratory issues like asthma, babies and anyone who prefers unscented products,” said Patricia Spencer, President and Co-founder of Grab Green.

Here are four reasons you should consider going Fragrance Free:

1 | Gentle on sensitive skin

Issues in skin sensitivity include fragrance allergies, eczema, rosacea and psoriasis. Anyone who has experienced these reactions due to harsh products, like heavily scented laundry detergent, knows sensitive skin is no joke. They experience reactions like hives, confusion, dizziness, coughing/trouble breathing, migraines, vomiting or seizures. Grab Green’s fragrance free line is hypo-allergenic and the perfect choice for those with sensitive skin or skin allergies!

2 | Gentle enough for babies

babySmKnowing that a bad reaction to potentially toxic fragrant cleaning products can cause headaches, dizziness, weakness, shortness of breath, nausea, cold-like symptoms and worsening asthma symptoms, would you expose your newborn to just any cleaning product? Probably not. Our precious babies have the most sensitive skin of all, and preventing their exposure to the toxic chemicals that may linger in fragrances is on the top of our priority list. The simplest way to prevent these symptoms brought on by bad reactions to fragrances is to choose a product that is truly fragrance free!

3 | Easy on respiratory systems

breatheMany man-made fragrances also include hazardous chemicals called volatile organic compounds (VOCs), some of which are carcinogenic and cause neurotoxic and respiratory effects (Natural Resources Defense Council). VOCs and other chemicals released when using certain cleaning supplies contribute to chronic respiratory problems, allergic reactions and headaches. Studies are underway to assess how these chemicals affect people who have asthma and other respiratory illnesses (American Lung Association). If you are someone who falls into this category the recommendation is to choose products that contain no fragrance. Even better choose products that are fragrance free, non-toxic, and effective!

4 | Go Fragrance Free!

Do you simply prefer unscented products or just don’t want to add fragrances or scents to your home? No problem! The fragrance free line of non-toxic and effective home cleaning and laundry care solutions are available to you. Why mask the natural scent of you?

For all of those who suffer from allergies, asthma, skin sensitivity or prefer unscented products, there is much to be found in Grab Green’s Fragrance Free cleaning products. The entire line is hypoallergenic and free of dyes, phosphates, chlorine and masking agents.
