I’d love to introduce you to Untamed Natural Care, a skincare brand that is homemade with ingredients from the earth (not a lab) with love by Gisela. She is a natural skincare enthusiast who turned to making her own natural skincare when her husband was diagnosed with cancer. When she makes her own products, she knows exactly what is going into them and that they will be nontoxic but also nurturing to the body and soul. The best part is that it is affordable for everyone because there is no middle man. You really get a great value for the price. I love that her logo is a heart made of flowers and leaves the colors of a loving aura.
I was chosen to try out a few of her products and I like them so much I needed to share them with you all! She chooses the purest all natural vegan ingredients to make her products and tests them herself (no animal testing!). She offers products for face, body and more!
Fresh Face Foaming Face Wash
This is great for all skin types, and it worked great on my combination skin. It foams and cleanses with a liquid Castile soap base, not toxic sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS). It also has eucalyptus and peppermint, which made my face tingle in all the right places. I had never used a facial cleanser that had those ingredients in it, so it was a pleasant surprise. I loved it! It woke me up and gave me energy to continue on with my day without having to rely on chemical mood enhancers (I don’t drink coffee).
It also contains vegetable glycerin and Sweet Almond Oil to help your skin maintain moisture and Witch Hazel as an astringent to help cleanse and tone your complexion. I loved the aroma of tea tree, peppermint and rosemary essential oils, which also aid in keeping the skin healthy and acne free. This bottle is pretty large and is only $6!
Tone It Up! Facial Toner
If you haven’t added toner to your skincare routine yet, you’re missing out. It’s a well-kept secret that toner is the mightiest anti-aging weapon since downward facing dog. Untamed Natural Care’s formula works with your skin to create the perfect pH — something that, if out of balance, leads to crow’s feet, sun damage and a tired appearance. When applied after cleansing and before moisturizing, this little bottle of wonder increases your skin’s ability to receive nourishment while simultaneously shrinking the appearance of pores. I recommend keeping a bottle with you at all times as a quick way to refresh, nurture and relax while also eliminating harmful impurities.
Toner completes the cleansing process by removing dirt and oil, refining pores, and preparing your skin to receive the benefits of whatever moisturizer you decide to use. Toner will benefit you most after cleansing, before moisturizing and is also great for spritzing throughout the day to refresh you and your skin. Refrigerate it for that extra burst of freshness!
This toner is made with Lavender, Calendula and Witch Hazel which all have amazing benefits for your skin. Lavender’s properties for skin include: anti-inflammatory, anti-irritant, antimicrobial, strongest gentle antiseptic, astringent, cell regenerating, cleansing, demulcent, deodorant, healing, rejuvenating, and balances sebum production. Lavender can be used by all skin types and is safe for everyone including children and pregnant women, but is best for blemished, delicate-sensitive, oil-rich, pale-devitalized and traumatized skin. Witch Hazel is a natural astringent and helps with oily skin and acne.
I love that this glass bottle of toner is only $7, so it should be affordable for everyone. To use it, use a certified organic cotton swab or pad and gently swipe some toner over your clean dry face, neck (all the way around, not just the front), and décolleté. If you have a spray pump, you can replace the lid with the spray pump and just spray on the toner if you prefer. It made my pores appear smaller, my face felt refreshed, and the essential oil aromas gave me a burst of natural energy.
Ingredients: Witch Hazel, Calendula, Lavender and Essential Oils
Luxe Body Oil
Ok, I’m kind of addicted to face and body oils. But not just any oil will do. I’ve tried many different kinds, and Untamed Natural Care Luxe Body Oil is one of the best I’ve tried. The essential oil aroma is very pleasant, almost like a natural perfume. I used this all over – my hair, face, neck, cuticles, and body. It glides right on and moisturizes your skin while also feeding it with some amazing antioxidants and vitamins. I didn’t feel greasy or shiny after using it. It absorbed right into my skin and left me with a healthy, natural glow. This was also a welcome massage oil after the gym.
Ingredients : Rice Bran Oil, Avocado Oil, Jojoba Oil and a blend of essential oils.
Coffee Scrub
Although I don’t drink coffee, I love the aroma of it. It awakens your senses and uplifts your mood. This coffee scrub ($12.50) is a great way to exfoliate your skin (an essential part of your skincare routine). This scrub is enriched with Vitamin E and Grapefruit Essential Oil. Not only will the brown sugar and coffee grounds remove dead skin cells, excess dirt and oil, but they will also stimulate lymph and blood circulation which can help with a variety of skin issues, including cellulite, stretch marks, etc. The caffeine from the coffee helps with inflammation and puffiness in skin.
I found that this scrub is very dense, which means a little goes a long way and the container will last a long time. The texture of it is grainy and not harsh. It was gentle enough to also use on my face, neck and décolleté. I found it easiest to use it in the shower. Using clean hands or utensils, apply a small amount to desired area and massage into skin. Allow to sit for a few minutes before rinsing off with water. You can apply it to dry or moist skin and you will still get the benefits from it. My skin felt really soft afterwards and I especially loved it on my feet.
The ingredients include: Ground Coffee Beans, Brown Sugar, Coconut Oil, Vitamin E, Grapefruit Essential Oil
Aluminum Free Deodorant
In case you missed it, most conventional deodorants contain aluminum, but aluminum has been associated with a variety of health issues, including:
- Breast Cancer
- Alzheimer’s Disease
- Bone Disorders
- Kidney Problems
Aluminum-free deodorants should consist of essential oils and all natural ingredients. Aluminum free alone may not be enough as some aluminum-free deodorants are still high risk, according to the Environmental Working Group, and can contain toxic chemicals like triclosan and propylene glycol, so avoid products with these ingredients.
Another thing to keep in mind is the difference between antiperspirants and deodorants. Antiperspirants (look at the label and it will tell you which one it is) block you from sweating and clog your pores, whereas deodorants let you sweat but kill the bacteria that causes odors.
I tried the Lemongrass Deodorant made by Untamed Natural Care ($6) and I loved it. It is made with Shea Butter, Coconut Oil, Beeswax, Vitamin E, Arrowroot Powder, Bentonite Clay, Tea Tree and other essential oils. The lemongrass aroma is light and citrus-like, very pleasant, and the aroma stayed with me all day, even through two hours at the gym! It goes on clear! Let it dry before getting dressed, though.
Lemongrass would be my first ingredient in a natural deodorant because of it’s unique properties. The primary chemical component in lemongrass is citral which has strong anti-microbial and anti-fungal properties, perfect for inhibiting the growth of odor-causing bugs in your pits, feet, groin, or wherever you decide to apply the deodorant.
Lemongrass is high in anti-oxidant minerals, folic acid and essential vitamins such as pantothenic acid (vitamin B5), pyridoxine (vitamin B-6), thiamin (vitamin B-1), vitamin C, vitamin A, potassium, zinc, calcium, iron, manganese, copper, and magnesium.
Lemongrass aromatherapy restores and revitalizes the whole body, helping to relieve the symptoms of headaches, body-aches, nervous exhaustion and stress-related conditions. I did notice that I dealt with stress much easier when I had the lemongrass deodorant on. Many people use lemongrass as a calming agent to help them deal with anxiety and nervousness, or even insomnia.
Lemongrass may also have effects on cancer cells. There are many studies online and in medical journals illustrating how lemongrass kills cancer cells without harming normal cells.
Untamed Natural Care makes 3 different Deodorant Varieties:
– Lavender & Ylang Ylang Essential Oils, soft, clean scent.
– Lemongrass, fresh citrus
– Cedarwood and Bergamot, like a walk in the woods
Remember that all natural products should be stored in a cool place or even refrigerated if you live in a particularly hot area.
