If you’re concerned about the effects of aging on your appearance, pay attention. Collagen is an essential skin nutrients that slowly fade away as we age. Diminished collagen levels in the body can lead to loss of elasticity in the skin, thinning hair, and brittle nails. Collagen: The Beauty Protein
Collagen is the glue that holds the body together. It is the building block for all our body’s major systems and the second most common substance in the body, second only to water in terms of volume. Although we have plenty of it in our youth, the body’s natural Collagen production typically slows at a rate of 1.5% per year after the age of 25. As this collagen production slows, the collagen fibers in the body become brittle and begin to break down, resulting in a weakening of the skin matrix (dermis). The skin matrix is responsible for the structural integrity and resilience of the skin and its natural degradation results in many of the visible signs of aging such as fine lines, loss of elasticity, and eventually, deep wrinkles.
Hyaluronic Acid: Nature’s Moisturizer
Hyaluronic Acid (HA) is found in every tissue of the body, and is an essential lubricant of healthy skin, joints, and eyes. HA production also slows with age, resulting in a loss of hydration and elasticity in the skin. Clinical studies show that HA assists in regulation of cell turnover in the skin, serves as an anti-oxidant to free radicals generated by UV radiation, and aids in communication between cells and cell-mediated immune response.* Hyaluronic acid is one of nature’s most water-loving molecules, and it’s role in tissue hydration help to support supple, smooth skin as well as provide lubrication to joints and eyes.** Collagen and HA work in harmony in the body. Collagen provides the mechanical strength of connective tissues, and HA serves to lubricate these tissues.
HA facts:
Holds 1000 times its weight in water for cushioning of the joints
Clinically shown to increase skin hydration
Aids in cell turnover
Lubricates the eye’s surface
Vitamin C is one of the most effective nutrients to help grow and strengthen hair, because it helps to build collagen as well as helping the body to absorb iron, which also helps the hair. According to Elisa Zied, author of, YOUNGER NEXT WEEK: Your Ultimate Rx to Reverse the Clock, Boost Energy and Look and Feel Younger in 7 Days, iron is essential not just for our hair, but one’s overall beauty and well being. “When you deplete your iron stores, you can develop anemia and experience fatigue and weakness,” she says. “That certainly won’t help you look and feel vibrant or energized.” Vitamin C also helps to slow the rate of free radical damage, so it can slow the aging process by keeping wrinkles, dryness and fine lines away.
The Journal of Clinical Nutrition reported that vitamin C intake from food sources was associated with less wrinkles and less age-related skin dryness in middle-aged women. To make a vitamin C-enriched face mask, blend one kiwi and a half cup of papaya and apply the mixture to your face. Leave for 15-to-20 minutes, then wash off with cold water. You can enjoy this once or twice a week (good for all skin types).
If you would like to nourish your hair with vitamin C from the outside, too, try this diy hair mask. Blend a pre-boiled, but not fully cooked, sweet potato, a half cup of gooseberries, three strawberries and half of a small red bell pepper until you get a smooth mixture, then apply to scalp and hair. Leave the hair mask on for 15-to-25 minutes, then rinse off with warm water. Try this once a week!
Biotin
Also known as vitamin H, biotin is one of the B complex vitamins that help the body convert food into energy and helps keep hair skin and nails strong by supporting collagen.
- egg yolk
- organ meats (liver, kidney)
- nuts, like almonds, peanuts, pecans, and walnuts
- nut butters
- soybeans and other legumes
- whole grains and cereals
- cauliflower
- bananas
- mushrooms
Because heat as in cooking can make biotin ineffective, raw or less-processed versions of these foods contain more active biotin. It’s always best to get nutrients from natural sources. If you’re unable to get enough biotin naturally, a supplement may be suggested by your doctor. Remember that supplements aren’t monitored by the FDA for safety, purity, dose, or quality, so research your brands before you buy.

As you can see, collagen is the primary structural component for all tissues in the body, proving the strength, resilience and flexibility we rely on every day. It also helps in regenerating and forming new tissue. As we age, however, the body’s natural collagen production slows down, at a rate of 1.5% each year after the age of 25 years. As collagen production slows down, collagen fibers in the body become brittle and start to break down, leaving some telltale signs of aging – wrinkles, tendon injuries, and joint pain.
Therefore, collagen supplementation is a crucial part of a healthy regimen for youth and vitality.*

I like starting off my day with a glass of water and a scoop of Beauty Infusion, which dissolves completely and has a crisp refreshing citrus flavor. It is not chalky at all and after using it for 6 weeks, I noticed that my hair was shinier, my nails were stronger (they used to be so weak I could just peel them off!) and my skin felt more soft!

The box comes with a re-sealable pouch in which the chews are. Each one is individually wrapped in a foil wrapper. They are quite tasty, and I love taking one in the morning about 1 hour before breakfast. They are not too chewy that they stick to my teeth, and I did notice my hair skin & nails appeared more soft after taking these for a month. I will continue to keep using them. It’s like a nice treat every morning.
