Advantages of positive thinking

Thank you for joining us on day one of the Positive Thinking Challenge. If you haven’t signed up yet, you can do so here. Today in the challenge, we were talking about making a list of reasons why you want to think more positively.

The problem with that is that you might not be aware of the many ways it can benefit you! So, here are some amazing reasons to be more positive every day.

You Can Reduce Your Anxiety and Depression

If you feel unhappy in general or are struggling with depression or anxiety, you definitely want to learn to think more positively. This will not cure these mental illnesses, but it can definitely help reduce some of their side effects. If your anxiety disorder leads to severe panic attacks, if you are worried about a certain thing and you learn to think more positively, you might just learn to deal with it better and alleviate these panic attacks a little.

It is also going to help you with general happiness each day, where you are not as affected by some of the negative things that might happen.

Stress Doesn’t Affect You as Much

Besides helping with anxiety and depression, positive thinking can also help enormously in coping with stress levels. Stress can affect almost all areas of your life, including physical and mental stress, home life, work and relationships with colleagues, personal relationships and much more. To manage your stress, you should learn to think more positively.

You Develop Better Coping Skills

Another big advantage is that you learn to get along better. You cannot prevent something negative from happening in your life, because that makes you human. But you can definitely control how you react to unexpected situations and learn how to handle them a little better.

If you are a positive person, you take these little hiccups as a learning experience. You are able to see the good and the bad in every situation and at least make a positive statement about it. This can really help you cope with anything from losing a job or ending a relationship to a traumatic event.

You Surround Yourself with Positivity

Remember that attitude and mood are contagious. We will talk more about this later in the challenge, but for now you should know that if you are more positive, others will be too. It spreads quickly to other people, so you are actually helping everyone in your life to be surrounded by more positivity.
