We have talked a lot about how small acts of kindness can lead to powerful results. They can really change a person’s perspective and brighten their day. Today I want to continue the discussion about how to give something back and share it with others, which means more effort. If you have the time, money or other resources to give something, there are many ways to make a big impact on the world around you. These types of activities may not be suitable for everyone, but they are certainly worthwhile if you can get involved. Let’s examine some of the large-scale, random, casual acts of kindness that you can take upon yourself if you want to give something in a great way.
Start or participate in a fundraiser
Fundraising is important and can benefit a range of causes, from people in need to support victims of natural disasters. Taking a pioneering role or even becoming involved in an established movement can involve a lot of work and commitment. However, the results are usually tremendous. If you want to help someone on a large scale, starting a fundraiser or participating in one is a good way to do so. You could bring everyone in your school, office, or community together to get involved. It is also possible for your movement to reach a national dimension, depending on your resources and public interest.
Start a foundation or non-profit organization.
Another way to see results on a large scale is to create a charitable foundation or non-profit organization. Your efforts can benefit a particular cause, and the number of people it can help is effective. To carry out either of these two activities, you will probably need a large amount of money and the help of experts such as lawyers and financial advisors. However, it is possible to get grants or other financial backers who can help you. There may be fewer limits than you think.
Getting involved in philanthropy
Volunteering is something you can do occasionally in your spare time. Many people do this. It can also be done on a larger scale. You could take the trouble to build a team of volunteers, perhaps from your work or just among friends to help with a particular cause. Sometimes the benefactors of such volunteer work are individuals or families going through a difficult time. At other times, an existing organization can reap the rewards of your efforts. Volunteering on a large scale may seem intimidating, but it’s not so bad if many people pitch in. Maybe you are simply the motivating leader who makes sure that this happens.
If you have ever felt compelled to make a difference on a large scale, consider one of these options. A little extra effort, dedication, and resources can lead to a random act of kindness that goes beyond anything you have ever imagined.
