Here is my question for you this morning. What is the most important thing for you? What is the one thing you really want to do every day that would make a big difference, but for which you just don’t find the time?
In short, what good habit do you want to cultivate that would really affect your life? Think about it for a moment. It could be in any area of your life, from exercise and healthy eating to self-improvement or progressing in business or work. You could work on your relationship with your children, find time for creative activities or get used to reading every morning.
Once you have found out what you want to work on, what you want to improve and what is important to you, we will think about how you can make it part of your morning routine. Sit back and imagine your perfect morning. It is not stressed or rushed. Most importantly, it is a day when you have time for everything on your list. Maybe it means having time for a long shower. Maybe it’s time for a run before breakfast. Maybe you have a few minutes to meet with your spouse for coffee, or maybe you take an hour in the morning to work on your side business.
These are many “maybes”, but the key is to start with what’s most important to you and think about how you can incorporate it into your morning routine. Remember that at this point you are only dreaming and imagining something. We will work on finding out where we can find the time to fit all this into your morning routine and how we can fix it all up later. Right now, I just want you to get a vivid picture of what your new morning might look like.
I want you to be very clear about what this perfect morning should look like. Imagine it as detailed as you can. Write it down in a diary or on a piece of paper that you can refer back to if necessary. In short, define your perfect morning.
Why is this so important? Because you cannot make any meaningful changes until you know what your goals are. You need to know your destination before you can begin to choose a route and figure out how to get there. That is what today’s task is all about. It is about finding out where you want to go. Don’t stop until you have found it out and it is firmly anchored in your memory.
