During the cold, winter months, one of the biggest problems is dealing with the cold, dry air. With dry air, you lose a lot of the natural moisture in your hair, which can lead to hair breakage and frizz. Luckily, there are a variety of hair masks you can make at home that will help replenish moisture.
Avocado, honey, coconut oil and mayo.
This first hair mask is really easy to make and uses all the ingredients you probably already have at home. Not only does it help with dry hair, which typically happens in the winter, but it also helps with frizzy hair. If you have a lot of frizzy, wavy or curly hair, adding the oil takes this mask to the next level. You can use your own amounts depending on what consistency you are aiming for. Combine these ingredients and apply to your clean, damp hair and leave on for 10-15 minutes. Rinse it out with cool or lukewarm water.
Egg yolk and oil
If you want to strengthen your hair and give it back some of its moisture at the same time, using egg yolk is the trick. Remember, you don’t want to use the whole egg, just the yolk of the eggs. Inside is all the fat you need for softer, more manageable hair. Combine the yolk with any type of healthy oil, like coconut oil, olive oil, or jojoba oil. Use this mask just as you would any other hair mask.
Honey and oil
Another 2-ingredient hair mask you can make is this one, which is perfect for dry hair. Honey is really a miracle ingredient when it comes to repairing your hair, strengthening strands and reducing hair breakage, all in extreme dryness. This could be after you have colored your hair, or simply from the harsh cold and dry air during the winter. As with the previous mask, you can use any oil for your hair as long as it is moisturizing. Coconut and jojoba oils are great for this mask.
Honey, Banana, lavender and oil.
This is a little different because it uses natural ingredients along with some essential oils. You start with simple kitchen ingredients including a healthy oil, honey and some mashed banana. Then add some lavender, which can regenerate your hair and also give the hair mask a better scent. Dilute the lavender essential oil with a carrier oil before adding it to the mixture and mix.
